There are disciplines that will likely eliminate this behavior, and you should take your littles to scriptures on honoring parents and obedience. There are some times though, you might just want to wash that scowl right off of their face. If that's the case, it's time you just start making a fool of yourself until they can't take it anymore and just start laughing and smiling.
This morning we were talking about Africa and my eldest little(who shall remain nameless since we are speaking figuratively) was just not in a good mood. I'd already had a hard time with her not wanting to do school and we'd already had a conversation about respect and obedience. She was just GROUCHY. We all have those days from time to time. It's just going to happen. BUT, the school room should be a place where learning is fun. So, I stood up, told her to stand up, then started an African dance complete with chanting. It took a good 30 seconds, but she came around. After a good old fashion eye roll. Ha!
OH Lulu, Momma loves you, but you gotta lose the 'tude.
Here she is with her fancy makeover. What girl doesn't love BLUE eyeshadow!?
When my boys start throwing fits I throw one right along with them. They look at me funny for a minute and then start laughing.
ReplyDeleteLet's just say hypothetically speaking she did have a bad attitude today. There'd be a great chance her future husband struggled with the exact same thing today. There'd be a great chance that joker pulled away from me when I tried to hug him. I pulled out the snake book (his favorite!) and won back smiles. But the African dance with chanting-you'll have to teach me that one so I'll have 2 tricks in the bag. Ya know, in case I ever need 'em.
