Today, I'd decided to give the first part of my "nap time" to the Lord to spend some extra time reading the Bible and praying about some huge decisions we have to make. Of course, as nap time drew closer I could tell I wouldn't be alone. Mia had taken a rare late morning nap and didn't wake up until I was putting the older kids down after lunch. At first I was frustrated because I'd really been looking forward to my time, but eventually I decided I was just going to have to take what I could get.
I gave Mia her pacci and a sheet of misprinted labels from St. Jude Hospital and said a quick prayer, "Lord, I know I'll only have a few seconds before my time is up, so PLEASE, speak to me in these moments..."
I took out a little devo book that I keep in my Bible for such times and opened up to page 65.
The words at the top:
"Joy in God's Guidance"
The scripture:
Psalm 32:7-11
New International Version (NIV)
7 You are my hiding place;
you will protect me from trouble
and surround me with songs of deliverance.
you will protect me from trouble
and surround me with songs of deliverance.
8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.
9 Do not be like the horse or the mule,
which have no understanding
but must be controlled by bit and bridle
or they will not come to you.
10 Many are the woes of the wicked,
but the LORD’s unfailing love
surrounds the one who trusts in him.
11 Rejoice in the LORD and be glad, you righteous;
sing, all you who are upright in heart!
sing, all you who are upright in heart!
The part that caught my eye and spoke to my heart:
"Isn't it wonderful how he leads us, His children, in all our problems and decisions when we look to Him for His guidance? How many mistakes we can avoid if we will consult the Lord! He will share His wisdom with us in many ways if we will only seek it!"
Vs.8 says He will instruct us with His eye. Vs11 says rejoice! God's sure guidance will cause us to rejoice!
Isn't it so amazing how the God of the entire Universe can take the time to give US wisdom. We can be confident that if we are seeking Him for guidance He'll give it to us. That's reason to rejoice, friends!
