Our Story: The Choir Tour Stare

A few days after Manly asked me to "get ice cream sometime" we left to go on choir tour with our school. I was still completely oblivious to the fact that Manly was crushing on me. No, seriously, I honestly had NO idea. Call me naïve, but I hadn't really had much attention from boys in the past that I paid much attention to.
While we were on choir tour I continued hanging out with friends. Then, one day while I was sitting in the tour bus I noticed Manly ahead of me sitting sideways in his seat TOTALLY staring at me. I finally looked at him and he just smiled and went about his business. This was the first of SEVERAL "choir tour stares." I started to realize he was doing it more and more, and I'd just roll my eyes and laugh at him and he'd just smile and go on.
On the last day, after a nice time touring around Louisiana and Texas, Manly cornered me and asked if he could talk to me. I sat down and he started by saying, "SO. I just wanted you to know...When I asked you if you wanted to get ice cream with me some time that was a date." He went on to explain that he'd been very interested in me, but he could tell I just wanted to be friends, so he was going to "let me off the hook" and we didn't have to get ice cream after all. I sat there totally shocked and a little put off by the fact that he just kept rambling without giving me a chance to respond. When he finally stopped talking I apologized profusely and told him I really had no idea he was asking me on a real date. I told him that I really liked getting to know him and that I'd love to be his friend.
As we made the return to CBC I really felt bad! I kept looking at him waiting for the stare, but it never came. When we pulled back into the parking lot and got off the bus for a week of Spring Break I went over to my car and threw my stuff in. Sadly, when I went to start my car nothing happened. By this time, all my friends were long gone. I stood there trying to decide what I would do when I heard it..."Baby Got Back" was blaring and the engine was rumbling. I knew it was Manly before I even saw his famous 77 Gold Dodge Aspen(with leopard print seat covers and fuzzy dice) pull around on the parking lot. I guess I must have looked a little like a damsel in distress, because he pulled up to my car and asked if I needed help. I told him what was going on and he said he'd take a look. I really needed to use the bathroom, so I told him I'd be RIGHT back and I bolted in the building. When I got back my car was running and he was gone.
